The Magazine (Sue D)

Book club had been at Sue’s house that afternoon, and by mistake, one of the ladies had left the magazine behind.  It was not until later that evening when her husband was in bed that she noticed it lying on the coffee table in front of her.  Since there was nothing worth watching on TV she casually started paging through it.  She seldom bought magazines so she slowly went through every page until she came across the section called Desperately Seeking.  Why she bothered to read these pages of people looking for lost relatives etc. was beyond her.  But there, at the top of one of the pages, were a couple of lines that jumped out at her.  She couldn’t believe her eyes!  The magazine began to tremble in her hands.  Carefully she read and re-read the lines.  Yes, there was no mistake.  Her heart felt like it was about to burst.  She went numb.

After a strong cup of tea, she began to digest the situation and slowly began to think of how she would handle this very sensitive matter.  There was no mistaking the date and place of birth.
