Adoption Reconnect
A South African website providing a forum for family members to reconnect. Our purpose is to provide a place where adoptees and biological families post information in their search for each other.
Make use of our database to let the other person know you want contact. See the Hints & Tips and Resources pages for some practical advice.
Please note, the e-mail addresses for the Registrar of Adoptions in Pretoria have been updated.
This website also includes Zimbabwean, Zambian, Swazi, Namibian & Moçambique adoptees and/or biological families.
How this service works
An adoptee or a member of the biological family sends us details via the Submit Request page (see page for further information).
We then
post the information, which is free to view by anyone. Any information that is provided (other than that which is posted) will remain strictly confidential.
If a reader contacts us, with a claim of a connection, we will request contact information from them.
With their permission, we then contact the party that placed the posting. The contact information is passed on. We strongly advise that use is made of a counsellor for the reunion.
It is always up to the individual parties if they choose to make contact.
We are aware that sometimes individuals might feel unsure about making contact right away - if so, please use an intermediary to acknowledge the other person.
Reconnections:
Please let us know if you have found the person you were looking for.
WARNING
If you are contacted by a stranger and told the person you are looking for is in jail - it's a SCAM! There are fraudsters/scamsters playing on people's emotions. Magazines and newspapers are a good resource to place ads with your search details. However, it is this resource that fraudsters/scamsters use to contact emotionally vulnerable people. Please do not buy a world card (phone card) or even discuss the matter. These people are trying to extort money from you.
