Adoption Reconnect
A South African website to reconnect family members. Our purpose is to
reunite adoptees with their biological families.
Up until the late 80s, all adoptions were closed. That is, the biological parents were not given any information about the adoptive parents or their whereabouts. Adoptees and biological parents have a need for information about each other. The aim of this website is to facilitate contact.
This website was established in March 2008 and is in it's infancy. We hope to quickly build up a database that will reconnect family members.
How this service works
Traditionally searches were done by the child or adoptee, or by the biological parent. What we are striving to do is also let grandparents, siblings, and other family members get involved in searching.
How this is done is the party/person who is doing the searching, would contact us via several means. eg. Info@AdoptionReconnect.org
We will then, for a nominal fee, post key information on the site, which is free to view by anyone.
Any information that is provided (other than that which is posted) would remain strictly confidential.
If a reader then contacts us, with a claim of a connection, we would request contact information from them.
With their permission, we then contact the party that put up the posting. The contact information is passed on.
It is always up to the individual parties if they choose to make contact. We cannot offer guarantees.
We are also aware that sometimes individual persons might feel unsure about making contact right away. In these situations we can offer to act as an intermediary. Each party would communicate through us, rather then directly with one another. Until such time when trust is gained or another means is found.
